Last week during the 2015 Lincoln MKC Reveal event , I got the chance to sit down with Lincoln MKC Chief Interior Designer, Soo Kang to discuss the the sleek, aerodynamic design and refined power of the new crossover plus the science behind developing the new stylish look.
After learning that Soo Kang’s entry into the design field stemmed from a Ford Motor Company-sponsored competition that sought unique designs for a four-door luxury sedan. Soo Kang entered, and won. Nearly three decades later, she works in the Lincoln Design Studio in Dearborn as the Lincoln Interior Design Chief, heading up interior design projects that include the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small premium utility.
In Lincoln’s newest vehicle, Kang strived to create a clean, spacious vehicle with a spirited, daring presence. The result is a vehicle interior that relies on an architecturally stunning instrument panel to emit elegant artistry and refined power.
Her experience working on vehicles from the inside out helps her create harmony for Lincoln interiors. She also has worked on the all-new 2013 Lincoln MKZ midsize sedan, the Lincoln MKT full-size crossover and the first generation Ford Fusion.
Kang enjoys listening to classical music and often plays her favorite musician, Yo-Yo Ma while working. She’s a doting mom with twin boys, Rocco and Vincent and proves that women can have it all and drive design in heels.
