Everyone is excited about Mobile World Congress 2013 coming up soon. HTC got in ahead of the game with the announcement of the new HTC One just a week before MWC. If you recall; at last years’ MWC, HTC announced their HTC One X. So what does the new HTC flagship have?
Here are some of the specs and innovative features of the new HTC One:
HTC One
New Body and Specs
The crisp 4.7″ screen is nicely housed in the zero-gap aluminum body. It’s lightweight and fits nicely in your hand. It is super thin at 0.37 inches thick. It’s thin considering it has a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, 2,300 mAh non-removable battery, NFC capabilities, and Bluetooth 4.0. To me, the body of the phone looks similar to an iPhone 5 (of course if the iPhone 5 were larger)
HTC BoomSound
One of the new features on the flagship; HTC BoomSound looks to accomodate more than the personal user experience; it accomodates the group / party experience as well. The new HTC One has dual front-facing stereo speakers and a dedicated amplifier which enhances listening experiences whether your watching your fave music videos or showing a group a new viral video that is out.
HTC BoomSound also comes in handy when creating. The HTC One has dual microphones for enhanced sound capture. Along with HDR recording, the dual mics help capture clean sound for your HD videos. There is nothing worse than getting good footage with distorted sound.
HTC Sense and HTC BlinkFeed
HTC’s latest skin; Sense (just Sense, no numbers) is clean and responsive. Completely revamped to focus on live feeds; HTC Sense big feature is called BlinkFeed. What is BlinkFeed? Well, it’s a new way to get your information. Straying from the typical Android user interface with apps and widgets; BlinkFeed focuses and tailors to your interests. Similar to FlipBoard; it pulls relevant updates from your social networks and news sources. It has a nice flow to it. You can pull information from various sources or focus on a specific source. It updates regularly with new stories. HTC has teamed up with over 1400 partners to provide endless content. As fort the BlinkFeed stream, you don’t have to keep it on the homescreen; it is removable.
HTC UltraPixel Camera and HTC Zoe
Something that caught the attention of attendees was when they said “…the megapixel era is over.” HTC focused on their Ultrapixel camera. The 4 megapixel UltraPixel camera allows for more light to get in the picture than other camera sensors. What does this mean? It means that the pictures come out better and with higher quality. The pictures also come out good in low-light areas. The front-facing camera also has a wide angle lens for better portrait shots and no cutoffs. It can record in 1080p for high quality self videos as well.
To make sure you get the most of your mobile pics and vids; HTC has implemented HTC Zoe. If you’re confused as to whether you want to record or photograph those memorable moments; just take a Zoe of it. These three second snippets can then be combined and/or edited to make the best of an event. Taking your photo/video gallery to the next level HTC Zoe creates highlight films of your event; not letting a special moment slip away. The highlight videos can be edited with different effects and themes, and of course can be shared on social networks.
HTC SenseTV and Music Player
I thought it took manufacturers a long while for this, but finally the phone has an IR blaster. You can control your television content with the IR blaster. It will pick up what shows you like and recommend similar ones. We’re usually on our phones when watching TV anyway, the IR blaster is a great help.
The HTC Music Player has been enhanced with live lyrics. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I need that. I want to see how many songs it has in its lyrics database.
Availability
With so many partners becoming part of this launch; this will be HTC’s biggest rollout. The phone will begin shipping in March here in the United States. It will be on three major carriers; AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Globally. It will be released in over 80 regions with 185+ mobile operators supporting it.
