For many of you holding out from picking up an iPad mini to wait for a Retina iPad mini model, your wait may have got a bit longer. According to a report by Digitimes, the 2048 x 1536 resolution iPad mini could launch as early as early 2014 with production kicking off late this year.
What Changes Can You Expect On the Retina iPad Mini?
Retina iPad Mini Display Upgrade (of course): Along with the new display, Apple is said to offer a bezel-less design that would reduce the weight by 20%-30% and beef up the battery + GPU for the new display.
2nd Generation iPad Mini in the works (NOT RetinaiPad Mini): As far as the refreshed mini coming later this year – expect it to get the usual Apple refresh treatment. The 2nd-generation iPad mini is set to offer improved specs (CPU, battery, etc.) in addition to being thinner + lighter. Apparently, Apple is following the same cycle as they did with the full-sized 9.7 inch regular sized iPad and waiting for the 3rd-gen to go Retina.
