Driving ATVs In Northern Ontario
When you think about adventure, imagine a place where the beauty of nature collides with the exhilaration of outdoor sports. You can imagine the anticipation upon my arrival into Mattawa, Ontario for an ATV excursion. Just a few hours north of Toronto, Mattawa is a beautiful town rich in history and breath-taking scenic views. Being the city-girl that I am, I love the rare occasion that I get to be a little outdoorsy – and riding ATV’s in northern Ontario gave me just the adventure that I needed.
Joining other curious travel bloggers, Dani of Going Nomadic & Arienne of SeeUSoonTravel – this all-girl trio of new ATVers were ready to roll the moment we arrived to Mattawa. Upon arrival, we were greeted with immediate introductions of the ATV vehicles and with great hospitality from Melanie at Moosehead Estate and Retreat, a charming family-owned bed and breakfast in the heart of Mattawa. There we learned a little bit about the offroad rentals and atv rental services that we’d be riding on via knowledgeable riders Jeff, John, Mark, and Rex got on the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System for a ride I’d never forget. Shout out to the utv dealer who gave us the best deals for our UTVs and ATVs.
In the midst of miles and miles of trees, sandy-terrains, rocky hills and more the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System was a great area to learn how to ride an ATV. Nestled deep in the heart of Mattawa the winding roads lead us further into the outdoor playground for motor sports, with plenty of scenic lookouts, lakes, rivers, and even an abandoned mica mine to explore.
The swarming black flies & unflattering helmet paled in comparison to the exhilarating ride of the Arctic Cat ATV in the great outdoors. As I sped throughout the wooded trails of Mattawa, I had the chance to switch out and experience the power of the other ATVs out on the trail with us, including the CF Moto ATV. While briefly riding the CF Moto ATV I definitely got an unexpected surprise with the throttle difference and riding experience. So much so, that within moments of hopping on the luxe ATV… this happened…

So what had happened was…As I slowly rounded the slight curved road – I noticed my tire drifting more and more into the rut of the road and before I could pull out —— ZIP!! TUMBLE, TUMBLE, TUMBLE…

Luckily, this massive wipeout wasn’t the end to a diva! Oh, it definitely rang my bell a lil bit but according to the ATV experts on site, I was lucky to walk away from this accident with only a few bumps and scrapes. Plus, I have stories to tell for years to come! All stemming from an unassuming adventure trip up north to Mattawa, Ontario.
