If you see me, there’s always one thing that is signature about my look; that is my purse. As many of you know it is my prized possession. It contains everything that my life centers around. It has my phones, tablet, battery packs, 5 lipsticks, house keys, identification, perfume, business cards, change, seeing glasses, sunglasses, headphones, and sometimes my laptop as well. Most important, it contains my bank cards and cash (wish I always forget to withdraw some). My tech life is inside my purse.
You may have realized that my purse is huge. Yeah, none of that clutch stuff for me. As you can see, most of my daily life is in my purse. I can’t go through my day without the things it allows me to carry around. The purse itself is an accessory to your outfit, but it carries essential tools for daily activities.
My purse symbolizes my personality, my state of being, myself. Can you imagine having your purse robbed from you? Whether it’s a clutch or a coin purse, things that are replaceable, you feel at a loss. It’s terrible to be stripped of your dignity. Take a minute and think of what your purse means to you. Now on to more serious use of a purse:
The Purple Purse and Its Benefits:
I want to pass on to you a Purple Purse. Another purse for empowerment, not only yours though; many women who need help. The Purple Purse I am passing on to you is more than a fashion statement or a means to carry all your gadgets. It’s a Purple Purse that enables women who suffer from domestic violence abuse to build confidence to talk about it, seek help, get help to move on and away from the situation. Domestic violence will affect 1 in 4 women in their lifetime. Meaning you know, or knew someone that has gone through it or is going through it. Believe it or not, it’s more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined. It’s great to do this today since October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. The Purple Purse was created because a purse represents the center of a woman’s financial domain and purple is the color utilized by domestic violence awareness campaigns.
It’s a difficult subject to bring up, many families don’t talk about it or ever bring up the subject. Now with the Purple Purse you can bring up the subject casually. Similar to asking someone what the pink bow stands for (breast cancer). what does the Purple Purse represent? Domestic violence awareness. If you do know someone who has been through domestic violence and they stayed in the situation is usually due to lack of resources. Lacking financial knowledge and resources is the number one indicator of whether a domestic violence victim will stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship. This is where the Purple Purse comes into play!
How The Purple Purse and You Can Help:
All you have to do is pass on the virtual Purple Purse. Encourage and educate each other. For every purple purse passed through the end of October, The Allstate Foundation will donate $5 to YWCA. They’ll give up to $350,000 for programs aimed to help domestic violence survivors and stop the cycle of abuse. Empower those who are going through financial abuse as well as All you have to do is go here:
