Even though Instagram pretty much has the photo app game on lock, there are many users who crave for more control other than just using pretty filters. Android’s various camera interfaces are cool while iOS takes the super-minimalist approach. Even on the beta version of iOS 7 doesn’t add anything for exposure, white balance, etc.
Introducing the VSCO Cam App
Here’s where the VSCO Cam App comes into play. VSCO stands for Visual Supply Company BTW. Dubbing itself the new standard for mobile photography. The app offers a separate focus + exposure rings, tint, temperature, vignette, contrast, grain, sharpness, highlights, saturation, and white balance lock for real sense of flexibility in your creativity. It displays image data like what preset was used, location, & date of the photo. And of course they offer filters too. But they call them presets. You can purchase additional presets within their in-app store.
The app is available now for Apple iOS for free and as I just mentioned additional editing bundles can be added within the app. For interested Android users, you are good just so as long as you are running v4.0 or higher and using either: the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy S 4, or the HTC One. However it isn’t out yet for Android but you can sign up for beta access right now.
I have been using it since this past weekend and I am definitely enjoying it thus far. Any mobile photographers out there should give it a spin.
