As you may have heard Motorola has announced their first phone since being acquired by Google. Many have been anxiously awaiting the Moto X. Motorola is known mostly for their RAZR and DROID smartphone series, which are more industrial looking. The Moto X wasn’t announced to be a major smartphone device. But there are a few things that the phone offers to make it unique in its own way.
Moto X – Customize Your Tech
The most important thing for all fashionable dorks, is that the phone is customizable. One of the features that Motorola boasted about a lot is how customizable the Moto X was. You can choose from 16 backplates and can even customize the colors of the volume rocker and power button. Most consumers can recognize an iPhone or a Galaxy smartphone, but after that all Android smartphones look the same. Motorola phones had a very box-like industrial look. If you’re tired of the black or aluminum bar look, you can make the Moto X your phone. Motorola is even working on a wood design, which I was a bit skeptical about, but is actually very nice. Besides cases, that’s a new move for smartphone design. While the Moto X is available for all carriers, customization is available for AT&T only right now unfortunately.

Many thought the phone was mid-range due to the dual-core processor but Motorola is using their X8 mobile computing system in the Moto X. The system includes eight different processing cores. They aren’t fast to be octo-core system but the phone reportedly works just as fast as the HTC One (according to Gizmodo).
Touchless Control on Moto X
I think it’s the best feature on this phone. While the Moto X isn’t a powerhouse phone it has cute features that make it stand out. You can basically talk to the phone (by enabling the feature) and wake it up by saying: “OK, Google Now”. You can ask it for the weather, or navigation. This is the Android version of Siri.
Active Display:
According to some research that Motorola did, we turn on our phones up to 60 times a day. It isn’t always to get to work or anything. It’s just that notification addiction or to check the time. With Active Display you will see icons for notifications (when you turn the phone over). It will notify you by vibrating until you check it.
