2012 has been a year filled with outlandish relationships, fashion statements, trends, and thoughtless statements by celebrities that seemed thoughtless, leaving many of us with our mouths wide open. Celebrities from political figures, to singers, comedians, actors, gymnasts, and even to child stars have made their mark on 2012. We have compiled a list of the top 12 celebrity moments that have left you thinking ‘what the… -were they thinking?!’ Rewind with us, laugh and revisit some of the best celebrity moments as we say goodbye to 2012.

Evelyn Lozada and Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson definitely shocked the world in August of 2012. Johnson, 34, was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge after he allegedly head-butted Lozada during an argument. Lozada was treated for a “pretty good-sized” laceration to her forehead. While the situation was physically damaging to Lozada, it was detrimental to Johnson’s football career. We bet he’ll never head-butt another soul.

Of all the 2012 celebrity pregnancies, Snookie was by far the most surprising of them all. The high-paid reality star had a baby boy on August 26, but was once the life of the party on Jersey Shore. The March 2012 confirmation of Polizzi’s pregnancy gave cause to speculate as to how the creative direction of her spinoff would be affected, as she would be unable to engage in the “hard-partying, booze-swilling” antics that had previously garnered high ratings for MTV. Many of us were shocked to find out this reformed party-goer would be putting down the liquor bottles for the baby bottles.

Men and women were both surprised when Frank Ocean dropped the bombshell about his sexuality. Right before releasing his album Channel Orange he admitted to the world that he was bisexual. He stirred up so much of a buzz that even Beyonce wrote him a letter with handwritten words over a picture of Ocean saying, “Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration.” Shock to some, inspiration to many others. His Twitter response: “Don’t get it twisted, I’ll still take your girlfriend.”

Comedian Katt Williams had a double whammy that left everyone wondering what is wrong with him?! After a high speed police chase in California, Katt went into a Target store and was caught on camera slapping an employee! He then did a tearful news interview after another altercation at a Seattle restaurant saying he was “done with stand-up comedy”.

After the birth certificate conspiracy, Donald Trump’s Twitter rants and his again total disrespect for the president after President Barack Obama’s victorious win lands him on our 2012 ‘What Were They Thinking’ list. Once the state of Ohio was called for President Obama and sealed the win for his re-election, Trump took to Twitter saying: “Barack Obama’s win was a disgusting injustice.” He even tried to rally his fans against an election that he called a ‘travesty’. Who other than the multi-billionaire himself could blatantly disrespect the president like this? Definitely left us wondering where is mind really was, and what reality he lives in.

While some were onto Rihanna and Chris Brown early on, others were shocked by her Tweets and Instagram pictures confirming that they were officially back together. She convinced us on Oprah’s Life Chapter that she had forgiven him but moved on… we should have known better. While some were excited, many were left thinking ‘what is she thinking?!’ I suppose next year will tell whether it will be the ‘dynamic duo’ or ‘destructive dummies’. To be continued…

Real Housewives of Atlanta newest cast member Porsha Stewart may not be known for her own name or accomplishments, but she is definitely known for her dumb statements. Her ‘265 days a year’ statement left everyone wondering if she had any brains in that pretty head of hers. Although her point- ‘it’s not just about feeding the hungry only on Thanksgiving, it’s an everyday situation’ -was genuine, so was her stupidity with her next remark. “I mean, this is 265 days a year!” Porsha could definitely make a better name away for herself by talking less.

The Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj cat fight definitely tops this year’s WTF moments. The unlikely duo’s brawl seemed to come out of no where and spiraled out of control with Nicki claiming she would shoot her! Due to her discomfort and Nicki’s ‘unpredictable’ behavior Mariah then had her security increased following the incident. While producers called speculation surrounding the spat ‘inaccurate’, a spokesman for the show said: “This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had.” Coincidence or not? We think not, but it still makes for a shocking moment we wont forget.

This before and after picture shows the weight-gain transformation Lady Gaga purposely underwent, launching what she called a “body revolution”. Known for her rainbow wigs, outlandish fashion, and self-empowerment-themed music Lady Gaga has always sought to make a point. The above picture went viral after hitting the internet, while she used it as an opportunity to reveal her own struggles in hopes of empowering her “little monsters”.

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson has definitely made a name for herself this year. Landing her own reality show on TLC, she has also recently appeared on Barbara Walters‘s Most Fascinating People of 2012 list. While she has had many memorable moments on both Toddlers and Tiaras and spin-off Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, her guest appearance- or lack of appearance- on the Dr. Drew show lands her on our 2012 memorable moments list as she defiantly expresses her boredom on camera.

Brad Pitt had everyone in a state of confusion as he rambled through the latest Chanel No. 5 perfume commercial. Sounding as if he had no script, he talked about the world turning, his luck, his fate and left everyone wondering what the commercial was about. Not even 24 hours later Saturday Night Live and several other YouTube clips surfaced mocking the commercial and Pitt’s confusing role.

Nicki Minaj confused, shocked and even scared a few during her February performance at the 2012 Grammy’s in Los Angeles. She performed Roman Holiday sitting next to The Pope and called the performance “The exorcism of [Nicki‘s alter ego] Roman.” Choreographed by Laurieann Gibson, it featured religious imagery, pyrotechnics, and backup dancers dressed as monks. The performance may -or may not- have been a mock of the Illuminati conspiracies, but it definitely rubbed many the wrong way.
