We guess that Microsoft is getting to work after the acquiring of Nokia. Looks like the folks over at Windows Phone Central got more details on upcoming WP8 update on the way in the very near future. The site actually got the news from a forum member XS2K who said he bought a Lumia 920 off of Craigslist that had the newer software on-board. The new software is dubbed Windows Phone 8 GDR3 and Nokia’s Lumia Bittersweet Shimmer updates.
Windows Phone 8 Updates Include:
- Custom sounds for text, voice mail, e-mail, and reminders (not seen in this build of GDR3)
- Restore over Wi-Fi when you reset your phone
- Huge amount of work on Bluetooth with various vehicles and devices
- Driving Mode
- Screen rotation lock
- ‘X’ to close out apps in multitasking
- Icon for multitasking apps
- General performance improvements
- 1080P Display support (for new devices)
- Support for new Qualcomm chipsets
This corroborates with the news of the new 6 inch Nokia Lumia to ship running this new update and then rolling out to other Windows Phone devices. With the new 6 inch 1080P display on a Windows Phone device, you can see from the image above just how crazy you can get with the Live Tiles. The Lumia 1520 is sporting the usual polycarbonate unibody with a camera cutout for the 20 MP Pure View shooter, similar to the aluminum-clad Lumia 925. Running a quad-core CPU, this marks the first Windows Phone device running something more than just a dual-core processor. This could very well be the first Lumia launched since Microsoft purchased Nokia’s services.
