London’s legendary, Royal Albert Hall was the setting for the successful launch of the first issue of ARISE Magazine on Tuesday, October 15th, 2008.
To launch the magazine in the U.S., ARISE partnered with IMG’s hugely successful, Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week and created a global platform for premiere African fashion designers to show their collections. As such, this endeavor has led to various, critically acclaimed fashion shows around the world:
ARISE African Fashion Collective IMG Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week February 2009
ARISE Africa Fashion WeeK Johannesburg June 2009
ARISE Cape Town Fashion Week August 2009
ARISE Promise of Africa Collective NYFW September 2009

Since the launch of ARISE magazine and our inaugural ARISE show three seasons ago, it has been a mission to bring African culture to a wider global audience. ARISE magazine will give some incredibly talented designers the opportunity to showcase their creations on a global platform, an opportunity they would not hitherto have been afforded.
ARISE MAGAZINE FASHION WEEK was held in Lagos, Nigeria in March 2011. This inaugural event showcased over 51 African designers from across the vast continent and beyond, partnered with 81 models, five music performances and three days of shows and events. Of the 51 designers, a panel of creative judges selected the top FIVE designers from this event; plus two additional outstanding designers and invited them all to New York to participate in our IMG Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week event, “MADE IN AFRICA” by ARISE Magazine – A Fashion Collective which will take place at the historical Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center on Thursday, September 15, 2011.
