One more day, one more social media option and update. Twitter is now making direct message available to users who you don’t follow. (The good thing is that it’s not automatic – you can choose to opt into this feature at your discretion.). Many users are expecting an influx of increased spam messages and more by opting into this feature, however I don’t know who would want to or why. If we are are not following each other on Twitter, chances are we aren’t at a stage of interpersonal communication yet. (There’s levels to this…)
Don’t expect too many people to sign up for this random social media option but at least it’s available for those who want to be to reached out and touched via private message.
More than likely it’ll be used by brands and news sources who would utilize this feature similarly as they would a dedicated email marketing list – making it easy to target & optimize Twitter user relationships.
