Watch out Samsung Gear, there’s a stylish new tech time piece coming to the market. Motorola’s new Moto360 smart watch is the newest addition to Android’s step into wearables. Driven by voice and easily glance able, this time piece takes a few notes from classic watches of old.
Motorola’s decision to go round is obviously smart, but it’s also bold. With most small, wearable components — including the screen — designed to fit in square bodies, the company was forced to, as its designers and engineers explain in the Moto 360’s reveal video, build a brand new set of components.
While we still don’t know a lot about the Moto 360, Motorola has just announced a live Hangout with Jim Wicks the lead designer on the Moto 360 project. That Hangout will take place later today, March 19th at 2:00PM EST. You can sign up for the event by heading here.
Whatever Google and Motorola can do to make the Moto 360 and other Android-based smart watches as watch-like as possible works for me. Style and technology should work hand in hand and one shouldn’t outshine the other. This Moto 360 (in my opinion) looks like we’ve found the first step towards fashionable balance. But don’t take my word for it, check out the Moto 360 smart watch for yourself below.
Did you notice that even when wearers are speaking to their Moto 360s, they’re not holding the watch close to their mouths, or to their ears to listen to its response. Now that’s a watch worth an arm party! What do you think? Would you rock the Moto 360 or is Samsung Gear more your style? Sound off below.
