It’s all about the smartphone camera now-a-days. We could list phone after phone that is trying to bring the smartphone camera game up to another level. Let’s see, let’s start with the most recent:
Samsung Galaxy S 4 with their bizillion camera features,
Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active with their Aqua Mode camera feature
Nokia Lumia 1020 with their 41 megapixel camera
HTC One with their “ultra pixel” camera
We could go on and on with the quest for a great smartphone camera. But what about those camera lens accessories. I’ve only seen them for the iPhone (such as the Olloclip and Carson Lens). But what about a clip on that does a lot more than that?
Sony Lens Camera Leaked
Recently rumors have emerged of a Sony Lens camera that will clip onto your smartphone and turn it into a point-and-shoot. Now that’s taking technology in another direction. So far the rumors state that there will be two lenses released. When clipped onto your smartphone, they connect to your network via WiFi and/or NFC. The lens will have its own sensor, processor and memory card slot.
Sony Lens Camera Rumored Specs:
SonyAlphaRumors states that the smaller of the two lenses, the DSC-QX10 will included a 10x optical zoom, f/3.3-5.9 G lens, and a 1/2.3 inch 18-megapixel CMOS sensor. The larger lens, the DSC-QX100, will include Sony’s 1-inch 20.2-megapixel Exmor R sensor and an f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens.
You might also notice in the picture that there is a Sony phone that isn’t out yet (Sony Honami i1 ). So you have two product leaks in one. Announcements are guessed for September 4th (the same day Samsung is supposed to release the Galaxy Note 3).
I love how different this is. Tech “leaks” barely vary. Social media believe it or not has an effect on the smartphone cameras. It’s the high use of social media sharing that has made the consumer look for a “quality” camera in their smartphone.
Do you think this will catch on as a trend? How small or how big does a phone accessory have to be in order for you to carry it around? How important is your smartphone camera to you?
