It’s been nearly four years since my first introduction to the Ford Escape in New Orleans, Louisiana and this time I’m taking the 2016 Ford Escape to the coasts of Malibu, California in search of what’s new for Spring!
Just a few of my favorite features off the bat is the Ruby Red Metallic color, spacious cargo bay and the life-saving, foot sensor power lift gate. The Ford Escape crossover SUV is the epitome of fun on and off the road!

If new tech upgrades is what you’re looking for, the 2016 Escape ups the ante with the introduction of the BlackBerry-powered Sync 3 system, which has quicker response times and a simplified menu that appears as a strip at the bottom of the central touchscreen. Sync 3 also features intuitive pinch-and-swipe functions, just like a smartphone, while matching the feature-filled familiarity of MyFord Touch.
Seating first impressions is important, and the 2016 Ford Escape comes equipped with the an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat (with power lumbar), a rear center armrest and Sirius/XM satellite radio. When enjoying fun with passengers, the dual-zone automatic climate control, a 110-volt household-style power outlet, the Sync 3 technology interface (including an 8-inch touchscreen) and a nine-speaker sound system with dual USB ports keeps everyone cool, comfortable and charged up for the fun ahead.
The 2016 Ford Escape may be a compact SUV, but it’s pretty spacious in front and behind the front seats. I’m a tall woman, and after exploring the back seats, I can attest that the Escape gives adult passengers adequate legroom and plenty of headroom (that any backseat driver would enjoy.)
Looking to haul some shopping bags? The cargo area measures 34.3 cubic feet, and the squared-off roof line allows most items to fit pretty easily. Flipping the rear seats down via the one-touch lever opens up a robust 68.1 cubes of space – which is pretty amazing for transporting hefty items.
