Who knew that driving around a hot spot could be so stylish? Recently I got the chance to put the 2015 Chevy Malibu 4G LTE powered by OnStar to the test… and I must admit, connecting to WiFi couldn’t get easier!
OnStar 4G LTE connectivity now offers a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot allowing passengers to connect multiple personal devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) to high-speed wireless internet. Vehicles will also act as a mobile hub, giving customers easier access to apps and services that require a high speed cellular or data connection.
By now, we’re all aware of the power of connectivity driven by GM and OnStar on American roads right? If not, check out this, this and this. Now with Wifi hotspots popping up in the GM line up of 2015 Chevrolets, Cadillacs, GMCs and Buicks – it’s only a matter of time that you’ll get your hands on experience with all the connectivity you need to power smartphones, tablets and computers of your own.
If you’re a fan of connecting your smartphone to your car via Bluetooth, then you’re already ahead of the game and with three extra steps, you can connect multiple devices to the 4G LTE wireless network (Powered by OnStar).
Once you get inside the main menu on the in-dash screen, simply tap on wi-fi settings where you’ll find the network name and password to connect. Simply enter the credentials into your smartphone, tablet or computer and VIOLA! You’re connected! The 4G LTE network is backed by AT&T so you know you’ll have great service no matter where the road takes you!
Being connected to wifi while in the car is great for multitasking…(just not while your driving…DUH.) Typically if I’m on a phone call but want to share a tweet or photo on Instagram – I can share instantly online without having to interrupt my current call.
Another huge bonus for having in-car wifi is for those upcoming family vacations and holiday road trips! I’m already predicting that having 4G LTE wireless will reduce the “Are We There Yet?” whines of kids 7+ by at least 72 percent! (LOL)
OnStar 4G LTE data plans start at $5 monthly after a three-month or three gigabytes trial of the service.
