On June 21st & 22nd – bloggers, readers & friends embarked on a Summertime journey to take on Coney Island and Six Flags Great Adventure theme park. Driving the 2013 Toyota Prius C… This is our #ToyotaFun story…
Thursday’s heatwave continued with highs in the 90’s and there was no better place to be than the beach! The Toyota Prius C tossed up great gas mileage in the city (up to 53 mpg) while coasting on the highway was comparable with up to 47 mpg.
Waking bright & early, there were only a few things on Friday’s agenda… fun, Fun and more FUN! Hopping in the ‘Habanaro’ colored Prius C was surprisingly quick, easy and fun! See, you had myself (a 5’10”, long-legged driver) alongside three passengers of all widths, sizes & lengths fit comfortably inside of a compact city hybrid – that just doesn’t happen (outside of television commercials anyways…)
While en route to the New Jersey Turnpike – headed to Six Flags, the real Prius C lessons were learned by drivers’ trial & error.
LESSON 1: Explaining to an State Trooper that you’re driving over the speed limit because you’re odometer is in KMH vs MPH won’t save you from a ticket.
I did not, (I repeat) DID NOT get caught speeding by a New Jersey State Trooper. However, driving at 220 KMH while trying to convert KMH to MPH is asking for a speeding ticket & one way ticket to jail. Somehow, I’d been driving the first full day in KMH but after realizing that the Prius C has an abundance of customization in it’s dashboard system, pressing & holding the “Trip” button on the steering wheel made it easy to switch from KMH to MPH (of course having that option is cool simply because you never know when you’ll need to monitor your KMH speeds in the US…LOL).
LESSON 2: LIFE IS BETTER WHEN IT’S ENTUNE…
From searching for a local Chick Fil La to listening to Pandora stream though your car speakers, Toyota’s Entune system let’s you connect with your vehicle in a whole new way.
LESSON 3: A TECHIE’S DREAM HYBRID…
The Prius c comes decently equipped with features you might not expect in a sub-$20,000 car, including Bluetooth, hill start assist and USB inputs. With a 3.5-inch screen that serves as your control center in the instrument panel, it depicts the typical trip computer that hybrid drivers will recognize, including a graphic to show whether your driving style is using engine power or electric power, or if it’s recharging the battery. The Prius c also features a new driving “score” to show how efficiently you’re driving. To keep the vehicle’s optimal performance and efficiency, you should have it regularly serviced by an automotive repair technician. You can also conduct Vehicle Starter Repair if you’re having issues starting the car. Also, if your car’s windshield has noticeable chips or cracks, an immediate windshield repair service could be necessary.
All in all, the experience opened our eyes to the efficiency, style & the fact that owning a small compact hybrid like the Toyota Prius C doesn’t limit your adventures, it actually allows you to create new ones that perfectly fit you!
If you could go anywhere in the world in a Toyota, where would you go?
